A New Day

As I lay awake
tears fall from my eyes
in my mind I'm debating
the many ways I could die

the darkness surrounds me
no one is around
the silence is overwhelming
I hear not one sound

the world is changing
to fast for me to grasp
in my mind I keep playing
memories of my past

Things are different now
and they'll never be the same
and the thing is I know
that I am the one to blame

I smile when I must
I cry when I don't
I know I need to stay strong
but I also know I wont

So I just lay here
and let the tears fall
I'm letting it go
letting go of it all

and when the tears stop falling
I'll get up and walk away
put a smile on my face
and start a new day.
