My Idols (*tribute to Elton John and Bernie Taupin)

by M J U   May 25, 2005

Always wanted to write music like EJ
and words like Taupin did.
It's been a long time dream of mine
ever since I was a kid.

But the "Brown Dirt Cowboy" I thought I was
never found a true "Captain."
Nevertheless I kept on "Writing"
I was a "Candle in the Wind."

You were my "Idols". the dream never faded
but I must be content to be me.
As "Seasons" change, I've no music to arrange
and "I see through eyes that only see what's real"
that's how I feel.

So, "I guess that's why they call it the blues"
when you can't be like these stars.
I've no friend named "Nikita"
and I've yet to "Kiss the Bride"
but it doesn't stop "The One"
from dreaming deep inside.

*Obviously my favorite's. I know it's crazy but I like to vary my style when writing! :-)

Cool poem. I am not familiar with their songs but the poem was neat, anyway. I like how you used their song titles. Loved it:)
