Why Me, Lord?

by Brad Champagne   Jun 8, 2005

How can I worry when He holds my hand?
How can I fear while in His light I stand?
Why should I cry, if my sorrows He shares?
How could I not go wherever He dares?

"Why me, Lord", I asked
When the challenge He unmasked.
"Am I to fight the Captain, Lord,
And not the coming horde?"

These questions through my mind have flowed,
But the answers He quickly showed.
I must prove my devotion,love,
To the heavenly host above.

His will be done, as it should be;
I accept this honor on bended knee.
My all is His, my being whole;
For it is well, it is well within my soul.

Should I fail, His love He gives
Yet for those of us who live.
But should I in victory return,
My reward then I will earn.

A Captain of my God's command,
An officer at His left hand.
Yet more humble now I be,
To be with such divinity.

How could I fail if I trust in Christ?
Ever before such simple faith sufficed.
With faith of a mustard seed this mountain I shall move,
And to the unbelievers His love and power prove.

I cannot fail if His will I do,
For I was made for to see this through.
My journey was set before my birth,
And now I must follow it here on earth.

So Jesus, teacher, brother, friend,
I pray you're strength and wisdom send
To those whom fight this war for you,
That the many may not destroy the few.

When the darkness lifts, we shall prevail,
And the holy name of God we'll hail,
Our General, Father, and our friend,
Be with us always, till our end.
