The Poem about other Poems

by Annabelle   Jun 14, 2005

Note: The actual title of this poem is "The Please Vote on this Poem, Poem"

---

I read this poem
And I read that poem
And then I read a few more

All of them told me to vote for them
So I voted…
And said they were all poor.

Most of the poems with those silly
“Please vote and comment!” comments at the end
Are really not anything I like my brain to attend

If I want to vote, I’ll vote I say
If I want to comment I’ll to that to
But if it sucks I’d rather not
It wastes my time and yours too

I wonder if the title of this poem will get me in a spat of trouble
Since the rules clearly states “No comment/vote requests in the title.”

But I thought I’d write and tell you now
That those comments really don’t invoke the reader to bow down

They don’t make you special
To be honest they don’t really work at all
Perhaps you should stop writing and find a pretty red ball.

Since I’m writing this you see
I think I’ll tell you something about me
For amusement purposes I’ll be hypocritical
Please vote and comment on this little doggerel.
