It’s not Plagiarism - Really.

I wrote that poem over here.
Or did he write this poem over there?
It's all right my dear you see
No one will care if it's him or me

I wrote this word nice and neat
Or did he write that word right on beat?
Let me go and look it up
While you put some tea with in your cup

I wrote it all on my very own
While you were chatting on the phone
It's not plagiarism if we both don’t know
At least I really don’t think so

To be honest it wasn't all that fun
I got some help from Mister John Donne
He said things the way I said them first
It doesn't matter if it sounds like verse

It's not my fault I taught myself
How to sound like a gloomy yet dainty elf
Just because he did it too
Doesn't mean I can't write the same for you.

Don't call me a liar
I'm simply a buyer
That put this collection of verbal colors and hues
Into a much more productive use

I wrote that poem all on my own
Just used some of Mister Donne's tone
Like I said before you see
No one will care if it's him or me.

Note: John Donne is a brilliant poet from the 1600s. And no I didnt plagiarize anything of his to write this... It was for the soul purpose of amusement to rhyme his name into the piece. But you can read/listen to some of his (and other's) fantastic stuff at: luminarium.org
