The Change of Day

by Brad Champagne   Jun 16, 2005

The other day I had an urge to escape my thoughts of life,
So to a friend's house house I did go, to relieve my bitter strife.
In playing games and talking long of nothing worth the time,
I forgot the things which troubled me, making this moment prime.

The sun sank low into West with splendor unmatched by man,
With the brilliant colors painted high across the heaven's span.
This close to day with bright display, signals the dawn of night,
When darkness then consumes the earth as daytime ends its flight.

Whilst others slept, I felt a call to look into the dark,
And saw in it the simple beauty of our Father's mark.
With a million stars, a pale white moon, and silence all around,
I sat there by the window watching in awe profound.

With tired eyes, and joyful heart, I saw the darkness flee.
The sun was rising once again but not so silently.
Beyond the birds and beasts I heard a sweet sound in my ear,
The song of life, as clear as day, I could lovely hear.

This great display of changing day brought tears into my eyes,
And I know that God did hear my praising, joyful cries.
To think the One who formed these things yet cares for such as me,
Ever humbles this sinner's heart, as His beauty I see.

So look upon the show some time when weary or feeling blue,
Lay your cares before the Lord and remember He loves you.
Of all endeavors He loves us best, for reasons we're unaware,
But I find Truth in this simple gift, and the power of a prayer.
