The strenght to smile (for joni)

by myxlittlexcut   Jun 17, 2005

Hollow frame
a body too frail
eyes sunken in
darkened with sickness
and death
words tumble out
jumble of an unclear mind
trying to remember
to say what cant be said
looks longingly
at the loves of her life
her beautiful children
never wanting to let then out of her sight
she lives for their sake
for them she will be strong
all the while knowing
they will soon be left behind
cant come with her this time
so capture every moment
frame every memory
she will fight this battle within
with all her heart and soul
she knows she is losing
but still finds the strength to smile

**my best friend's mother has brain cancer and she is slowly dieing in front of us. at first i was afraid to visit her, because i am a coward, but once i did, the change in her was shocking, how far gone she was, and yet she was still smiling. she was still smiling**
