Your Father

by Gem   Jun 20, 2005

Father watched you sleeping,
He stood in the door
A silhouette of strength.
You thought he never loved you,
But he kissed his sleeping babe,
Then gently shut the door.
He slipped out into the darkness
And standing on the shoulders of the land,
He whispered back on the winds:

‘Oh sweet child,
Best you sleep for now.
The morning shall bring troubles,
But this is for the best.
I should not adore
Something so blessed.

I love you my child.’
