I'd Never Change a Thing

by «-Pale-Petals-»   Jun 25, 2005

When i first met you,
It was awkwardly shy,
Maybe a short glance,
Or a quick goodbye,

We were in different scenes,
You had your own circle of friends,
And so did I.

Getting to know each other better,
Progressed pretty slow,
The occasional smile,
Seeing each other out once and a while.

Then during a period of time,
Everything happened in a blur,
From occasionally saying hello,
To flirting, then dating.

Your such a real person,
No one but yourself,
I admired you for that,
Above everything else.

Our conversations had substance,
Instead of the usual foolishness i was used to hearing,
Finally i was seeing a clearing.

You made such an impact,
You helped me to see,
A little bit of you,
Was placed into me.

Lots of fun times together,
Magical they were,
Tragically in love,
Dancing in the pretty picture.

Conversations began to dull,
From little to none,
As quickly as everything came,
It was gone.

Lost the spark,
Made me a mess,
Reaching for you comfort,
Needing your caress,

Memories, Memories, Memories.
Replayed through my mind,
Feelings so much of,
Now kept confined.

I remember never thinking I'd fall in love, Until i stumbled into you. And as much as this hurt me,
Id never go back and change anything.

Your choice of words - confined, occasional, caress, comfort, and ironic oxymorons are a delight to read. I like the incorporation of these dismal little centers of solitude.

"I'd never change a thing" is very sweet in its whole bout. But still ... the slight element of depression is warry and wise. Delicate and nicely arrayed to meter ... I love it.

    Kudos to you!

This sounds a lot more mature than most of your other love poems. Very nice job hun.
