The Tormented/The Fugitive

by Aidyn   Jul 6, 2005

I'm your comfort
I'm the sweet voice
The one that whispers
So gently...so soft.

I'm the one
I'm the one that keeps you alive.
I'm the one that tells you to run
Don't you know that I exist?

I'm the one that reminds you.
I never let you forget.
I'm your memory; I'm your reason.
I'm your sweet prevention.

I'm the one that gently
Oh, so gently caresses
The back of your mind
I entice your life; I intrigue your thoughts into being.

I breathe warmth into your atoms
I sustain y[our]...existence.
I'm the one who embraces your heart
And urges your blood through its passage

I'm the whisper at your back
Breathing down your neck
Light beads of moisture
From which flow inexorable...

Thoughts, if you please...

I'm the burn on your thigh
A blister. A scar. A confident.
Parasite is such a harsh word...
Think of me as a companion...

Who understands...

I am the remnant of a memory,
Like the remnants of sick at the corners of your mouth.
Though unlike the sick,
You remember how and when I happened.

I'm the one who talks you to sleep
Who never can be silenced
Who lives inside you
Who lives because of you.

I'm the shadow of your doubt
I'm the ones you loved
The ones you feared
The ones you killed

You don't want me to leave.
You know it. I'm here forever.
And I love you. I love your scent, your taste.
Your...dependance.

And you will never deny that you love me just the same way.

This is a continuation of my series of poems called "The Fallen". The other poems in the series so far are "The Misjudged" and "The Fragile".
