Intermezzo di Vita

by Aidyn   May 21, 2006

For Elena

I find, dear heart, on this twisting road
My mem'ry of colours does forebode
The stagnation of awareness, still
My consciousness drifts to a lonely hill
And though I cannot reminisce
It is not for a lack of bliss
This interlude I see, it seems
Is only but a future dream
We'll lie, my love, on this mount, on high
Where the leaves sing an arcane lullaby
And with voices hushed by tongue-tied lips
With our each breath and every sip
We'll release our cares and strife
Side by side, in the middle of life

Now, to clarify--an intermezzo is a piece written as an intermission in a larger musical work. So, roughly translated from Italian, the title says "intermission of life"--love--an interlude that we all strive for. This is also meant to parallel "in the middle of life"...mezzo means middle, and again, horridly translated, intermezzo can mean "in the middle"...
