Endusing sleep eternal

by Wintersolstice   Jul 9, 2005

Not based on a personal experience.

The clouds parted at that moment
As I looked up at you, from below
The light shone down on you
Showing you had gained favour

I passed the base of the stairs
The light flung your shadow down to me
And your voice laughed in its cherished melody
I longed to run towards the heavens, to you

The smile from a jest with your friend
Still freshly playing upon your lips
Your eyes were alight and mellow
This is the way I will try to remember you

You must have felt my eyes on you
As you turned your majestic head
I fancy in that second-you saw my love for you
Then...the loud sound came

The noise was not a smarmy comment
Or a laugh full of your sweet breath
Indeed your smile faded faintly as you fell to the ground
Struck on the back, by a bullet from a madman.

The last line is very intense and captivating and it finishes the poem so good, nice effect there. And also I admire your painting and very descriptive language, which adds more tention and makes the whole poem complete. Astounding!
