The Day You Left

by Amanda Smith   Jul 10, 2005

You say it'd hurt to be without me
For us to no longer be friends
But hurt is nothing you've felt
My heart will never mend.
You took my heart with you
The day you decided to leave
The day you decided to go
The day you left me.
You say I wasn’t faithful
Not the same as you
That I nearly didn’t care as much
I was more than equally devoted to you.
I’d do anything I could
For you to understand my pain
For you to come back
And put together this heart you slain.
I thought we'd be together forever
That our love would never die
But when you walked out
That was your final "bye".
You cut off all connection
Like I was never there
Like the past year
Was nothing more than bare.
All the gifts you gave me
Once displayed as treasures of joy
Soon shall be replaced
By something from a new boy.
And when the new comes around
Like it's done for you
I will not think back
I will never think of you.
I will do as you done to me
Replace you, shut you out
Pretend you didn’t exist
I will lock away my memories.
But when the day comes
When I can think of you
I will think back to everything-
My undying love for you.
