My Mother and my Best Friend

by ~*~MoNiQuE~*~   Jul 12, 2005

Like the eye of the cyclone; she stands tall,
Order inside chaos; she holds on strong,
While others around her continuously fall,
She keeps on singing her beautiful song.

Somehow she manages put on a smile,
And always offers sympathy and affection,
Even when she has walked the longest mile,
And has suffered the hardest rejection.

Her fears are kept locked inside,
No one can see the pain, damage and hurt,
But sometimes I can see how all night she cried,
And I hate all the times I treat her like dirt.

Always by my side in everything that I endure,
When everyone is against me, she holds me hand,
She’ll do anything to keep my heart pure,
Sifting through every grain of sand.

The sweet little kisses on my forehead,
The phone calls just to make sure I’m okay,
The words spoken that others leave unsaid,
And the loving goodbyes as I go on my way.

It’s so easy to take her for granted,
Take everything and give nothing in return.
But someday I will make her feel enchanted,
Somehow light her candle, forever it will burn.

I cannot lie to her; my mind she seems to read,
She will pick up the pieces and help me mend,
My guardian angel and my secret need,
She’s my mother and my best friend.
