One Simple Mistake

In the beginning
it was all just great fun
we were freshly grown up
our lives had begun

and back then we were little
we were stupid and young
everything was impulsive
on the moments we hung

if i had told you back then
what and what not to do,
you wouldn't have listened
you'd have said 'oh fu** you!'

so i had to back off
let you make your mistakes
and now i am grieved
one, your life it will take

my cries are redundant
you are my best friend
our lives are so young
i don't want yours to end!

but i guess its too late now,
what is done has been done
its now in the past
your mile has been run

what you've been for me
the words i cant find
my friend and my hero
with a beautiful mind

we've both made mistakes
cuz of pain, stress, and strife
but mine were just stupid
yours will cost you your life

if i could do something
to adjust our bled fate,
you know that i would hon.
but now its too late

and i hold your hand now
as we cry our goodbyes
we're gasping for breath
the tears drown our eyes

i stand at your grave now
you've taught me to prize
the life in our hands
and how fragile it lies

I'll remember you always
you'll live in my heart
no more mistakes now,
I'll try to be smart

i will miss you forever
and though i still cry
you wont be forgotten.
