Listen to Me

by Hannah Leigh Pate   Jul 16, 2005

A simple plea, just a few words.
But they are words you don’t hear.
An empty wish, just imaginary thoughts.
But each one brings another tear.

I wonder sometimes if you listen.
I ponder what you mean to me.
I imagine life without you.
I pretend you’d just let me be.

It doesn’t work, and I don’t know.
You are still here without intention.
But would you care if I left?
Maybe you won’t notice, lost in your imagination.

But I ask of you to wake up.
I ask that you would just see.
I ask that you do something more.
I ask that you just listen to me.
