The Room

by lisa marie   Jul 21, 2005

This poem is pretty personal to me.

There's something depressing about this room
The fading chalk marks, and stupid little doodles
The cigarette stains, and alcohol spills
A sniff of smoke and old rotting beers
Tie dye blankets, broken mirrors
With a gloomy lighting that never fails;
To make me cry.

And there is something about your face
When the sun forgets to shine all day
And makes me feel horrible in summer's embrace
When you will not come out to play
But I'm fine, please keep on painting
Just promise me you'll keep your hair long
and will never forget our dancing song

You're voice doesn't sound the same
When we talk and when we laugh
And we sit around not knowing what to do
As we grow older with an awkward feeling
Knowing you don't want to laugh with me
But time goes on and doesn't really care
How close we use to be

Your picture is so old sitting by my bed
Almost four complete years of confusion
August 26th your petals withered
Replacing you and all my happiness
And the vase your body rest in is all i have left;
To show what brought me into this world,
And what i want out for.

The parks all look different to me
Cause under that tree, the grass is dead
And the sky is never clear enough for me;
To tell you how much i miss that tree,
Where we use to spend our day

And there's something depressing about this room
And all the pictures on the walls
Because pictures don't mean anything if you're gone
Just another reminder of what you don't have anymore
