11:11, Make A Wish

by Stef   Jul 22, 2005

All those tears streaming down her face, her mascara running black
Tear stains upon her cheeks, but she knows there’s no looking back
Pulling her hair away from her face, she smiles at her broken reflection
And wonders if she could have stopped this if she’d paid more attention.

It’s just past midnight and the sky is the blackest she’s ever seen
She realizes she’s fully clothed and wonders where she’s been
Or maybe where’s she headed, for she just woke up from her daze
And it seems to her that everything’s crazy and a little bit out of place.

When she looks down at her carpet, she’s startled to see the red
And when she gazes are her wrists, she’s amazed that she’s not dead
She’s torn up and bleeding, slashes cover her entire inner arm
And silently she screams inside; she can’t believe she’s caused herself harm.

In disbelief she watches as her blood slowly continues to flow
She sees the razor on her floor, but what she did she does not know
She sits herself down on her bed, and looks back into the mirror
With tears still flowing and mascara still running, things aren’t any clearer.

It takes awhile to register with what it seems she’s really done
And when the realization hits her, she knows why she feels so numb
At eleven after eleven she first put that razor upon her skin
And wished this would be the last time she ever felt like that within.

As she cries she slowly cleans up all her blood and all her pain
She puts her razor in a box, and swears it won’t come out again
With one last look in the mirror, she winces at the anguish in her eyes
And she tells herself it won’t happen again…
But that’s what I said the last time.

I say that everytime I see those numbers on the clock. The title caught my eye.
