Thank You

Thank you for life
And all of its joys
For all the smiles
Of all the little girls
And boys
For all the laughter
That you can share
For all the pleasure
That you can bear

Thank you for life
And its pain
For the tears that may fall
For the hate that can radiate
For all the anger through it all

Thank you for life
And all it brings
Thank you for all its lessons
And insights
Thank you for the heart aches
And fears
Thank you for making a stronger person
Through all life has to give

I wrote this when I got clean. About 9 years ago now. You know the 12 steps this was my "thank you for" speech. I know its not the best poem, But it is one that means a lot to me.

    Wow. I dont really know what to say about this one. It's really good! I really like this part :
    "Thank you for making a stronger person
    Through all life has to give"
    But maby change it to "Thank you for making me a stronger person"

    Congratulations on becoming clean and having the strength to remain strong. I can relate to this, I was formerly into alcohol and drugs. I have put the past behind me as well. Another good write I see your spelling is improving! =) This poem is heartfelt and shows that anyone can beat an addiction if they are committed. Take Care! Brooke~

    beautiful poem... i can see where you are coming from with this poem. i have many relatives who have gone clean through those very 12 steps and they pretty much expressed the same gratitude for everything life gave them. keep on writng...
