For No Reason

Somewhere, a hate crime occurs
A young black boy dies from wounds
Being stabbed in a dark ally
On his way home from work
For no reason
And nobody seems to notice.

Somewhere, a case of child abuse happens
A young girl gets hit
Until her screams pierce the night
Her mom passed out on the sofa
For no reason
And nobody seems to notice.

Somewhere, someone discriminates against a religion
Graffiti being sprayed on a church
Racial slurs and unrighteous comments
For no reason
And nobody seems to notice.

Somewhere, a store gets broken into
Stealing enough money to put the store in debt
Stealing the money
The worker’s pay goes down the drain
For no reason
And nobody seems to notice.

Somewhere, a bomb goes off
Killing and wounding thousands
While others view it from TV
But never felt the heat against their face
For no reason
And nobody seems to notice.

Somewhere, a little boy is dying of AIDS
That he contracted from his dad
Who left his mom for another woman
And the boy holds onto life as tight as he can
For no reason
And nobody seems to notice…
