Shafts of Light

by Wintersolstice   Jul 25, 2005

Life is dark
A cloudy sky
A black cave
Then we die

But it’s much more
For clouds may part
& Shafts of light
Can pierce the dark

Shine through,
Make great,
Enlighten
And Illuminate

Sunshine-Your light?
Is it really true?
Warm, visable...
But does it complete you?

My light is metaphorical
Though im sure it is real
A would-be completion
...If only he could feel...

To see light
Even if never to hold
Is a gift
Worth much more than gold

I have smiled and meant it
In the presence of the sun
But not the one in the sky
Just - "the one".

Life is dark-but hold on
Stand strong and fight
Sunshine will break the clouds
With perfect shafts of light.

This was really good~! I liked the concept! I did not really like the part Sunshine-Your light?
    Is it really true?
    Warm, visable...
    But does it complete you?

I don't know it just did not seem to flow at all for me!

Your comment on my 'no' poem was well observed and hit the mark.
I have a conflict within due to the fact Ilive in a place and have found myself in a space where people have no depth/substance or whatever - few do. At times it feeld good to sort of hibernate and take stock of my thoughts.

Your poem, though appearing dark, steps out into the light and celebrates it. That's good because the general tone/subject seems to be the recoil from a relationship where you've been hurt. Your writing is impressive and thoughtful.
