The Second Child

by Gem   Jul 26, 2005

Am I, the second child,
An item prised above the other?
Why does the second
Get treated different to the brother?

Am I, the second child,
A second attempt at the son?
Practice makes perfect
So try for a better one?

Am I, the second child,
Treated as a tiny infant bird,
May I scream and squawk
Yet never be heard?

Am I, the second child,
Your last? Your babe?
Look at me now, your second child
Has grown into something wild.
