Raw Emotion

by Mira   Jul 26, 2005

Someone asked me to describe a poem I wrote.

It's raw emotion.

And if it is raw emotion, then it can't be poetry.

Poetry is refined emotion.

Swept up, examined, and put in the most detailed way without giving straight facts.

Poetry is words woven together in an intricate pattern that is meant to make the reader feel, sense, and understand the emotion presented.

Raw emotion is not poetry.

That's what I told them.

What I write is not poetry.

It's raw emotion.
