Lauren (Behind That Smile)

by KittieKat   Aug 1, 2005

She stares into the mirror,
With eyes of deep loathing,
Self hatred taking over herself.
Hands clenched into fists.

Not a single tear falls down her cheek,
Pretending is her life, Her life is a lie.
The plastic smile spread across her cheeks.

How can such a little girl,
have so many thoughts?
How can such an innocent face,
Be lost in the dark?

She gives her life away,
With not a single tear,
Still no one looks deep,
Within her beautiful eyes.

Confused and alone,
In a cold world of lies,
She lowers her head in defeat,
Not a single tear she cries.

She stands defeated,
Yet she appears to smile,
She's one who taught me,
Everything isn't what it seems.

~This poem is for one of my closest friends, Loz. She's such a beautiful person, with so many things she thinks about, Its just to tell her that I love her so much, and to remember that its okay to admit defeat~
