Silence Kills

by FELTON PHILLIPS   Aug 7, 2005

The words that were never spoken
were never misunderstood.
The chance to vanquish an unkind thought
or even a misconception, denied.

Silence Kills

Happiness, one of it's victims,
never stood a chance.
It died with the love that could have been.

Silence, sometimes desired like the love of a woman,
needs to be embraced and savored.
How ironic.

Silence kills

A pregnant pause, so full of meaning,
the bastard cousin to silence.
If only they could trade places,
then maybe one would stand a chance.

Love, Desire, Happiness, all dead.
Silence killed them.

What a powerful weapon. Too bad it was misused.

(This poem was written for anyone who has ever been subjected to "the silent treatment" by someone they love)
