To Paul

by Angel   Aug 8, 2005

On a posting to Germany my family was sent,
We packed our belongings and said farewell to our friends,
My heart sank low, i didn't want to go,
For i knew i had to start all over again,

After a week of unpacking,
And sorting the house,
My father decided we needed a break,
To the Sergents Mess the family he'd take.

Behind the bar was a smiling face,
Your name was Paul and you stood so tall,
You made me feel welcome,
In that strange place.

We would laugh and joke,
And you'd serve me with coke,
Then go back to my house,
For a big Sunday lunch.

One day you said you were going on leave,
I'd see you again in just two weeks,
I counted the days for i missed you so much,
I hoped that we would never lose touch.

I came home from school and my parents were sad,
I knew that the news was going to be bad,
They told me that you had been killed in a crash,
You were like my big brother that i've never forgot.

A soldier so good with a heart of gold,
A young man of 25 who will never grow old,
I remember you well with fondness and cheer,
For in my heart you will always be near.

PLEASE RATE AND COMMENT! I WROTE THIS ABOUT SOMEONE VEY SPECIAL TO ME AND WOULD APPRECIATE SOME FEEDBACK ON IT!! XX
