Innocent

by eternitySOlong   Aug 9, 2005

Small eyes peak behind the cracking wall
Tripping over harsh words, coming to a fall
Tiny ears hear what was taught to never say
Seeing a family that wasn't supposed to be this way
Baby fingers touch the cracks and the holes
Not knowing some people are born without souls
A baby girl who was just laughing the day before
Now stuck in between, in the middle of an open door
Tears start to build up in her sweet brown eyes
Bordered with daddy's fists and mommy's lies
She's learned to deal with it, with all of it
Just sits and colors while they go on with their fit
Hearing the sirens she's heard many times before
She just puts down her crayons and opens the front door
An innocent child with screaming filling her heart
An innocent child, watching her family fall apart
