Sleep

by Idiosyncratic   Aug 14, 2005

I lay down to sleep
To be buried alive
Where no body can keep
And no heartbeat can thrive

Enclosed within
A crypt of trust
Metal, not wood
Because metal can rust

Within these walls
Of self betrayal
Arms crossed in "prayer"
A final portrayal

Bits of dirt
Begin to fall
I open my mouth
And attempt to call

I can see their faces
Blurry, but thrilled
They know what they are doing
Of their own free will

The light is dimmed
It never existed
The dream is real
Real and persistent

I choke on the air
Quickly escaping
Pound so hard
The ground must be shaking

Scratch my fingers
On the cold metal coffin
Nails bloody
And no longer moving

I sigh and sleep
Exhausted, but done
I give up, I'm happy
You have finally won

Diffrent, but amazing. I loved the metal coffin, the flow was good, a little rocky in some places but it picked back up. the emtion again was dark , and deep. that seems to be a theme with you as it is with me. And the word choice is excellntly chosen. 5/5
