Petal Harvest

by EpithetPoet   Aug 14, 2005

Look down at my friend so sweetly
Through tears of burning sin
Shakily grasp its blackened hilt
Let the flow of crimson petals begin

The paled tile below me blossoms
With the most beautiful harvest of red
With a smile i lay myself down
Envelop in the fragrant flower bed

My fingers glide through the prettiest petal
Its dew shining a smile back
Then solemnly it turns to dust
Leaving the rest an ashy black

In vain my tears urge to revive my petals
Though their acid only burns their dust
Brings my face to slowly peel away
And soar with the melancholy gust

Now faceless i lay down low
Shamed in the memory of what was beautiful
I shed my final pure tear in hand
And reveal the last dew trodden petal
