It will be the death of you

by ..::Angel of your darkness::..   Aug 14, 2005

You said you had stopped
And you'd try keep it up
I know it was going to be hard
For you to give up

I always asked you to stop
I tried for years
I’d beg you not to smoke
It left me in tears

I didn't want you to die
Just because of smoking
I could hear it every morning
The sound of you choking

But then one day you stopped
And said you'd try
I was so happy for you
How was I to know you'd lie

You stopped for awhile
But not for very long
My uncle kept hinting to me
That something was wrong

But now I know
You've been lying
You've been smoking for ages
And I feel like crying

You promised me you weren't
And I believed you because your my mum
I cant believe I stuck up for you
God I feel so dumb

How could you tell everyone
but not tell me
Arent there not suppose to be any lies
In such a close family

Everyone knew but me
But now I know too
All I have to say mum….
Is it will be the death of you

Have your mum stop smoking? Maybe she will when she read this poem. It's a great advice to everyone out there who smoke, and do we have poets here who smokes?
