Whether or not you love me
I can say that I love you
I loved the way you walked away
And everything else you do

And although my guilt comes out in tears
And I find refuge in my bed
If I had never loved you,
I know that I’d be dead

Still I long for the assurance
Of walking sadly in the door,
Picking up a handgun,
And dropping to the floor

Baby when you left my life
You tore my love to pieces
A man can’t survive without his heart
And I’m dying by this thesis

My words as real as all my scars
If not before, then now they’re true
I’ve given up on everything
Since the day that I lost you
