Why Did You Leave?

All of a sudden you started to call
Why? It had been years since I had heard from you at all
One day you just decided to leave suddenly
There was not even a note left behind to explain your actions to me

You left without warning leaving me feeling empty and alone
Memories rush back just by hearing your voice over the phone
Like every couple we had our ups and downs
After each fight the both of us always came around

To this day I still do not know what drove you away or what had changed between us?
My mind use to see your face even though I knew you had left on an out of town bus
When I was finally over you I promised myself I would follow just one rule
Not to be sweet talked by you again or I would be played like a fool

So sorry if I do not put any effort into winning back your heart
Looking back on my life I realize it is a good thing that we had to part
But at the time that is not what I thought
No matter how complimentary you can be my feelings cannot be bought
