Nothing More, Nothing Less

Tell me the honest truth.
Tell me just one thing.
Was it all a game, a one-time fling?
Another girl to do?

Why couldn’t you just leave me be?
Alone in this world, so cold,
You were the one, meant for me
The one I had to hold.

Could you have broken it,
Any harder or broken it any more.
Shattered in a million pieces,
What now lies on the floor.

You lead me on without a doubt,
Or maybe I read you wrong.
Maybe you just wanted to be friends,
But I still got strung along.

Do you feel anything,
Anything at all?
When you stand there and look at me,
As I begin to fall.

As I sit here trying to describe
The feelings, all mixed up inside
The hurt, the pain,
And the heartbreak,
That almost always ends the same.

I asked the question,
When I knew the answer.
And why is it, for every lesson,
You have to learn,
Cause your heart so much hurt?

I think back to the beginning,
As the tears swell in my eyes.
I think back to where it all began.
But you don’t get to see these tears I cry.

So as I say my goodbyes,
And wish you my best,
Friends, is all we’ll remain.
Nothing more and nothing less.

[[This is a really personal poem to me, about someone i really liked, and how it didn't work out because he just wanted to be friends. It worked out in the end but during that time it was hard. This is one of my favourites]]
