Remember September (Dedication of Remembrance)

by Tainted Butterfly   Aug 28, 2005

Remember September eleventh, two thousand and one
The day America changed and the bell of terror rung.
People taken hostage while flying home on a plane
Not knowing they would die never seeing home again.

A man was coming home to his children and wife
He had no idea it would be the last day of his life.
A woman went to work in her office up high
She had no way of knowing she was about to die.

Crashing into two towers standing sturdy and tall
Explosions, death and tears-- America witnessed it all.
Firefighters and heroes risked themselves to save lives
Meanwhile leaving behind children, husbands and wives.

How many lives were lost on this horrible day?
How many people did God surround when they prayed?
Years have passed now but the war rages on.
Unbearable sadness and anger for lives that are gone.

No one can bring back the people that died.
No one can take back the tears that have been cried.
God can't change the history that was meant to be
And no one can change the terror that we still see.

Do not live in fear, but choose to be strong.
Please remember those who died or had to go on.
Children that have to grow up with no mom or dad.
Children who died losing the future they would have had.

The firefighters who went to work not knowing life would end.
The man next door who lost his wife and best friend.
The police officer who carried out bodies of the dead
The people who regret the final words they ever said.

Remember September even if you were not personally there
Remember to live life to the fullest and take the time to care.
Remember that life can be gone in the blink of an eye
Remember September though the years will keep passing by.

*Dedicated to the lives lost on September 11, 2001 and the survivors, friends, families and loved ones who struggle to go on while having to Remember September.
