The Day the World Died

by dollwithafrown   Sep 3, 2005

The days grew shorter
Summer slipped by
The clouds turned grey
The leaves went dry

I danced with the wind
I cried with the rain
It was nature's surroundings
That helped ease my pain

All windows on houses
Well dull and dark
Empty shops
And lifeless parks

Nobody spoke
Nobody laughed
The air felt like
A constant draft

The trees stopped swaying
The plants stopped growing
People stopped living
Rivers stopped flowing

Still, people worked together
They really, really tried
But they couldn't stop that fatal day -
The day the world died

Lovely poem and very strong. Dunno if you mean anything with it but for me it’s very realistic. I like the rhyme, the short but meaningful sentences. It is simply beautiful, thank you for sharing. 5/5

Very very interesting. One of the only poems that truly made me think. Excellent!
