Soldier So Brave

by Kimimilatowin   Nov 22, 2003

This poem isnt by me. I got it in an email. This poem is in memory of Pfc. Sheldon R. Hawk Eagle. To those of you who don't know, the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe lost a tribal member in the Black Hawk helicopter crash on Saturday, November 15th 2003 in Mosul in northern Iraq. I am also a Sioux Indian.

Soldier So brave
So honorable and true
You were truly special
To be able to withstand what you do

To wake up each morning
Fighting for freedom and peace
To go to sleep at night
Where reality does not cease

You struggled each day
To find a reason you're there
Wondering what you're doing
If anyone will even care

Trust me my hero
Your work in not in vane
Those lives you're fighting for
Will never be the same

To grant them a wish
They'd never felt would come true
All because a soldier cared
Someone special - that was you!

Hold your head up high
Don't look back at the pain
You did what you had to
No need to be ashamed

You're a hero in my book
I thank God for soldiers like you
You stand for what is right
Doing the best that you can do!
Rest In Peace Sheldon You will Truly be Missed! and Everyone is Proud Of you and Your Will Always Be MY Hero
