Ode to My Bed

by Brad Champagne   Sep 7, 2005

In peaceful sleep I lay me here,
My favorite place when night appears,
Beneath a shroud in fitting clothes,
Escaping the tired world I loath.

When all is done, and darkness creeps
Into the room, this thing I seek.
Between the work and class it be
The savior of my sanity.

When rings the tone to call the day,
From my solice once again I rise
To meet the morn and make my way
To learn the things which make men wise.

So sleep thee well; enjoy this thing
Which so much bliss and rest does bring.
When gone is day, and work is done,
The time for sleep once more has come.

I still love this thing. I find a lot of respect for the talent that it takes to write something so well given a) the context in which you wrote it and b) just the fact that it's a declaration of love to your bed. Sometimes it's fun to do something random sometimes. :)
