A Day Too Long

by Amy   Sep 16, 2005

You hurt me.
You ignored me.
You didn't wait.

I hurt you back,
I didn't want to.
I ignored you,
Once again, didn't want to.

You tried calling,
I didn't answer.
You tried writting,
I never responded.

You sent flowers,
I threw them away.
You knocked on the door,
I told you to go away.

I stopped hearing.
I started realizing.
I opened my eyes,
I need you.

I went to your house,
Knocked on the door,
No answer.
Falling to the floor crying.

Day turns to night,
Still sitting...
Picking myself up,
I drag myself home.

The paper comes,
Front page news,
17 year old boy dead,
Suicide...

My eyes flood with tears,
He's gone!
I waited...
A day too long.

It's not true thankfully, but it is true in the matter that I wrote it on a night that I thought the possibility that's how it could turn out. It didn't and I'm so happy. Thanks and that means a lot.
