You Lost Me...

Lately I have been so lost
Until I saw you standing there
I walked up and held your hand
But you acted like you didn't care..

So I kissed you on the lips
But then you drew away
And when you came back again
I wanted you to stay.

I haven't felt this cold before
Nor as hot as when you're around
It's like time is freezing
I can only hear your sound.

I asked which you believed
To be the prettiest light in the skies
You held my body against yours
And looked me in the eyes...

You said my name once
And in confusion I blink
You said my name once more
Rekindled my heart to make me think...

"I look into your eyes
And I've never seen something so bright
I can't compare anything to your eyes
Baby, you look beautiful tonight."

"I love the way you smile
It's more mysterious than the moon.
And I can't compare you to the stars
Because they all fade too soon.

"Baby, I love you more than anything
I love you just the way you are
You're more beautiful in and out
Than any number of stars.

"I don't know where I would be right now
If you hadn't taken the wheel.
You gave me the world when I had none,
I love the way you make me feel."

He squeezed me between his arms
And i could feel his arms shake
I said, "Baby, I love your words,
And I'll never let your heart break.."

He started to shake more
As I rolled onto my back.
I stared at the dying stars
That left a whole so black.

It was a good five minutes or so
And no one spoke a word.
"Baby,..." I called his name
But my baby never heard.

I grabbed onto his stiff hand
And i could barely feel him at all
His eyes were wide, open, and empty
"Baby, BABY!!" in fear I call.

I try to feel his heartbeat
How could things go so wrong?
My world crashes to a screaming end
When one moment ago it was strong.

I rush him to the hospital
They said he was in critical care
He's had heart problems since he was six
He was almost dead when I got him there....

I cried out in the waiting room
I sobbed on my way home
I cried until I couldn't see
I wept by the fear alone.

I must have pressed the accelerator
Because suddenly I gained speed.
Lights flashed, loud noises
An impact and I bleed.

I can't get out, not anymore
And my whole world has become bleak
I tried to find the words in my throat
But for some reason I couldn't speak.

Blood, tears, more blood and a broken heart
There's not much more that I can see
In the fear of losing you,
Somehow you lost me.
