The Memory

by Lady Vengeance   Sep 27, 2005

I hear the drums beat in my ears
the screams of pain are very near.
I lunge forward with my knife.
this war made me take a life.

Back home the people scream for peace,
Myself i wish for sweet release
My comrades fall, their bodies torn
My life, my soul, my friends are gone.

When this is over i shall weep,
and constant nightmares will haunt my sleep
The sounds of war will never end
My broken heart will never mend...

Awesome poem - I've been wanting to write a war poem for a while but I seem to fail rather often.

and constant nightmares will haunt my sleep

I think that line was a little too long and ruined the flow . . . but it picks up quickly so the dent is only small.

    Peace. [Sole]
