EDEN QUEST

by Gary Jurechka   Oct 1, 2005

Love is a many splintered thing,
shards shock like tiny bolts
of cold burning steel
reminding me I hurt, I feel,
the pain means I'm still alive,
sometimes we need that
before we reach the downy eyrie,
the mystic paradise
sometimes glimpsed in
a blur of ecstasy
with a kindred seeker
in dreams before awakening.

A definition of pain in Eden Quest... "shards shock like tiny bolts of cold burning steel" Most of us would say hurt or painful. But you make us feel, you paint an image of emotion rather than simply say hurt or painful, what most of us would say so plainly. And use the pain to realize you are alive and can still feel. And the opening line an excellent twist on the well known phrase 'love is a many splendored thing'.I like how you turn the pain at the start into a poem of love and hope by the end.You weave such magic with your words.

    Have a good day. Elizabeth
