Autumn must being

by Ashley Van Eperen   Oct 2, 2005

Falling down
all around
colors of my past
hurry up
then take it slow
Today is summers last
Hold the memory,
of the green
for red is soon to come
hold the memory of the heat,
for cold is on the run

Button up,
all tight and cozy,
the heat shall not escape
pumpkins all around the yard,
like a golden cape

A breeze to blow
around the leaves
a sign that autumns near
its knocking at your kitchen door,
and brings about a fear

a howling sound
like a frightful cry
a mistress to the wind
Coldness in the evening sky
as autumn must begin

A path of colored tree top tears
falling to the ground,
surround my feet
they fall so fast
but never make a sound
Weeping for the loss of them,
the trees bend to the wind
for the seasons have a mighty power,
and autumn must begin

Great job, not many people can write a poem about nature and have it turn out so well.
