Real Tears

by Lara Salomon   Oct 3, 2005

A happy time when you and I could talk without feeling pressured
A simple smile would light up my world
Would brighten my day for awhile
But happiness ends, and brightness fades, and smiles can be fake
But I cry...
Real tears, but show you my anger
Real fear, but show you my strength
And I stand here laughing at my insecurity
But real tears show real depth.
A touch of your hand could make me happy
A simple hug can make me weak
But now it's time for me to change, before I fall in too deep
Weather can change, and pens can run dry, and books don't last forever
But I cry...
Real tears, but show you my calm side
Real fear, but don't let you know.
And when the right time comes
I think I will be ready to show
The side of me that cares
The side of me that wishes I could go back
In all my years, through everything changing
One thing has stayed the same
I cry...
Real tears, and show you I'm hurting
Real fear, and show you I'm scared.
And I don't think I can hide my feelings
When you are near -
So I cry... and I laugh...
And I smile in a secret part of me
And I'm scared... but I'm here
Because I can't stand to live without you.
So I cry, and I cry, and I cry, and I live.
