Broken Glass

by Lara Salomon   Oct 3, 2005

Carefully side-stepping
The pieces of broken glass,
The shatterings that made me who I am,
The reason I am here.
Quietly reflecting on everything I know,
Not trusting where I step
Because I remember all of them -
The bad things you did.
And I don't know if I can take it -
Looking back I see what you gave me.
I can easily leave,
Leaving things behind.
But I don't know if I can fake it -
Too much has happened now!
How can I turn
And leave you... leave me... to my mind?
