I arrived home at four o'clock
As my friend drove around the block.
We were happy and excited
For the next day we would be delighted.
I went onto the internet
To talk to my friend Brett.
One of my favorite songs I was humming.
But the next thing I did not see coming.
He told me that thought his life was fulfilled,
One of my best friends had been killed.
It felt like my would was taken away
And I will always remember that day.
He told me it happened in a fight.
I could only imagine the sight.
I sat and thought, then let out a sigh
Only wishing I could cry.
But I just couldn't believe it.
I thought that without him, my life would not fit.
Just two weeks later is when it set in.
Then my head began to spin.
I realized that my friend and I had departed
And now my new life without him had started.
Memories is all that remain,
And writing is all that makes me sane.
That one day in October,
Is a day that I will always remember.
