The Traveler

by Nefarius   Oct 7, 2005

A little spot between the stars is slowly moving on
The surface sparkles like a falling raindrop in the sun
But like no other star it's traveling through space to find
A world to satisfy the wishing of a single mind
A longing for a place called home - to live, to hope and pray
Just moving on and on to be there one final day

The Traveler, on his journey alone
Is searching for a home

His ship is named "The Lonesome Scout" it's slowly grown too old
But still there's so much blackness out there that is not unfold
The universe is lying in an everlasting night
Almost forgotten is the view of solar beams of light
He left his place, the earth, with wrath and anger in his mind
Yet he has found no star alike the one, he left behind

The Traveler, on his journey alone
Is searching for a home

So he has seen so many worlds, nowhere a sign of life
And he has slept for centuries that now are almost five
But the silence on his ship becomes thicker every day
He wishes now for sure he would have never gone away
So scary have become the times he has to be awake
The voices sometimes heard on board could just be a fake

The Traveler, on his journey alone
Is longing for a home

For years now he has taken a course back to earth to end
This odyssey and now this nightmare that he once began
And as the ship has waking him from icy sleep once more
He feels a joy so deep to see his sun that lies before -
But what a pain, the earth's not there, it must have been destroyed
Could mankind have been so decayed to sink into the void?

The Traveler, on his journey alone
Is searching a new home
