Past Memories

by Matthew A.   Oct 11, 2005

Going to your home town
can make you relive past memories.
Like remembering that every year that
your home town has a party for all different families.

Seeing your old school,
while walking along,
will make you happy enough
to sing a joyful song.

Remembering all the good times
you had with your childhood friends.
Till your graduation day, you thought
the memories would never end.

Seeing the park
where you used to play.
Can make you remember when
your grandparents took you for the day.

Noticing that the streets are empty
like they were in the past.
Makes you think of the time
when you always ride your bike and crash.

Seeing your old home,
where a new family now lives.
Wishing you could go back
and tell them you forgive.

Watching your old neighbor
who you used to love.
After having many kids
she still looks like a dove.

Saying goodbye to your home
like you did years ago.
Going back to your wife and kids
back to your new home.

Now your with your kids
seeing them play.
Hoping that they will remember all the good times
like you have during these past couple of days.

Past memories bring such joy
until you have to return home.
Wanting to change everything until you see
your kids playing on their toy throne.
