In search of a genius

by Bradley Peter   Oct 21, 2005

I searched for a man of genius
of that, that exceeded my own
but the conclusion of my findings
was that, that man I'd always known

for the soul i searched for
has long since been dead
i saw him lying there earlier
motionless in his bed

for that man was my father
all powerful and wise
it wasn't released through his mouth
but rather through his eyes

he did not speak in riddles
experience was his gift
and for me to have known such a man
gives me a tremendous lift

I like this poem very much. It is sad, very profound and to me rather evocative...Just like life itself.
