Turning 16

by Jamie   Oct 22, 2005

She knows what she will become
She tries to escape the reality
But the reality is that there is her mother
Who is hardly ever home
She is out on the streets
Selling her body
Her sister
Not far from following in the mother's footsteps
Her father
Abusive
Verbally
Physically
Sexually
She goes to school day after day
Wishing
Praying
It was another day
For she knows that in a few hours
When she turns 16
She will be forced
Out of her home
And into the streets
To follow the path that both her mother and sister lead
She wants so much more
But what else can she do
She must follow her parents orders
And she sometimes wonders if maybe
Maybe she could just run away
Maybe then she would not have to deal
With all of this
So she tries it
One day from school
She runs
Right past her house
She goes to a park and sits and cries
But she isnt there long
Two hours later
She looks up
She hears the familiar sounds of her fathers pick up truck
Coming down the street
He finds her
His face is flushed
His eyes wild
She takes one look at him and can tell
Hes been drinking
Shes in for it now
He grabs her by the hair
Pulls her into the alley
He beats her to the ground
Ranting and raving
He is so much bigger than her
So much stronger
He pins her against the wall
And next to an old broken down factory
He rapes her
She screams and shouts
But no one can hear
For all of this is only inside of her
No sound actually coming out
Finally she kicks and screams
But the damage is done
And now she has seen
Seen the day
Her sister saw about 4 years ago
When she turned 16
