Losing something i never had

I dont know what to think of all this
did I mean anything to you at all?
And while you're staring into her eyes,
I'm counting the shadows you make on the wall.

I guess what bothers me the most,
is that we didn't even have a chance.
I could have sworn you felt it,
as under the stars we danced.

The worst feeling in the world,
is this feeling of shame
i dream of you every night,
i guess you never did the same.

I thought i was the very reason,
you went through the day with a smile.
Then my heart realized,
what my mind knew for awhile.

And where exactly do I fall?
how did you forget about me so fast?
i was booted off the table
just a gliche in your past.

I don't understand why i am so broken,
my heart torn and sad.
how can I lose something,
that I never really had?

The last time I saw you,
you were standing by her side.
And the last time you thought of me,
was in a bad photograph left aside.

I'm going to try to go on,
like I never knew you.
I'll pretend you were never my world,
and what we had was never true.

I'll secretly make a wish,
to a bright star tonight.
to tell me this is just a dream,
to make everything right.
